TAB Review Australia 2021
Is TAB Reliable for Australian Sports Betting?
You may have read many TAB reviews, but only Wetten.com will provide you with TAB ratings that are unbiased and accurate. We’re putting the TAB Australia sports betting platform under the microscope so that you can see how well this site compares to Australia’s best online bookmakers.
The TAB site is part of Tabcorp Holdings. This is one of Australia’s largest gambling brands, and the Melbourne-based company has been in operation in various forms since way back in 1961. This was when the brand pioneered legalised totaliser betting for horse races, and the brand have since diversified their operations to accept a staggering 1.1 billion bets each year.
We’ll carry out a series of TAB reviews of everything from their sports betting odds to their promotions. Is TAB secure? You’ll find the answer to this question by reading our TAB ratings for their licensing, payment methods and customer support.
So, while there might be lots of TAB reviews out there, you’re only going to get an honest and accurate picture of the sportsbook by checking out our TAB ratings below.
We are sad to announce that TAB is no longer available, but you should read our original review and see our recommended bookmakers.
TAB Pro and Con
- Good coverage of most top global sports
- Licensed and regulated sports betting site
- Responsive customer support via email and phone
- Lots of promotions for various sports bets
- Great TAB rewards scheme for loyal customers
- No welcome bonus for new customers
Loading up the TAB website reveals an interface that makes it easy and quick to take a sports bet. Horse racing bets are foregrounded, but there’s also a handy navigation bar at the side where you can select bets for your favourite sport. This area also includes links for promotions, help and so on.
The TAB website loaded pretty quickly, and even when you were running advanced features like live streaming, the whole betting platform didn’t slow down too much. If anything the site could have been streamlined a little to make for easier navigation. But we think that sports fans of all levels should be able to use the TAB website without a problem.
We love it when bookmakers take the time to develop their own sports betting apps. This is something that TAB have done as they have created some great apps for iOS and Android devices to make it easy to bet while out and about.
These TAB apps make it just as simple to bet on a smartphone or tablet as you would on a computer. This means that you can enjoy all of the Tote betting options or try some fixed odds betting from the convenience of your mobile device.
You should be able to do all of the important tasks like opening an account and topping up your account from within the TAB app. Plus you can even access cool features like the live Sky 1 and Sky 2 streaming of racing from your smartphone or tablet.
Even if you don’t want to download the TAB app, you can still use the browser on your mobile to access the brand’s website. This loads quickly and looks good, although you’ll miss fun features of the app like being able to pull down and release the screen to instantly refresh the sports betting odds.
The majority of decent online bookmakers, like Sportsbetting.com.au Australia and SwopStakes (social bookie), will provide you with a range of payment methods that can safely be used for making deposits and withdrawals. But is TAB secure when it comes to allowing you to add funds for your sports betting?
We found that that TAB will only allow you to make deposits with either credit or debit card brands like Visa and MasterCard. This is a much smaller range of payment methods than other bookmakers who commonly allow you to use a variety of eWallets, prepaid cards and bank transfer methods. Sadly TAB no longer allow you to use POLi to make bank transfer deposits.
It’s worth noting that the Commonwealth Bank of Australia has put a 1.50% fee on all of their credit cards that are used to fund online gambling. Thankfully TAB won’t charge you any fees for adding money to your account.
You should be able to make deposits at TAB from between $1 and $1,000 at a time with a credit card. Deposit speeds are on par with other bookmakers, and you can use the TAB Quick Deposit feature to make sure that you don’t have to wait too long to start betting on your favourite sport.
When it comes to making withdrawals, you can either make an electronic funds transfer, use a cheque or visit one of the Tabcorp Retail venues in NSW or Victoria. Bear in mind that cheque withdrawals may take up to five working days to clear, while electronic funds transfers are processed five times each day. So is TAB reliable for its payouts? Yes, but the process can be slow and you’ll only have limited options.
All decent sportsbooks will provide their customers with plenty of ways to get in touch should they have any queries. We found that TAB Australia give you some pretty straightforward ways to get any issues swiftly resolved.
By going into the TAB help centre, you’ll find that the brand have a telephone number that can be used for customer support queries. TAB say that this is available for urgent assistance, but there is no indication given as to whether this is a 24 hour service or not.
There is also an online submission form that can be used to raise any issues with the TAB customer support team. Again, there is no information given as to how quickly TAB will get back to your queries.
Some TAB reviews have criticised the brand for not including any live chat support options. This customer support feature is fairly common at other top Australian bookmakers, and we were surprised that they had yet to implement a live chat service. However, it’s worth noting that TAB encourage customers to get in touch with them via their active Twitter account.
Plus we have to say that the TAB help centre is packed with handy articles that cover topics like registration, TAB rewards, promotions, payments, login issues, technical queries, betting, mobile services and responsible gambling.
So is TAB reliable for looking after their customers? We think that the brand have taken adequate steps to make sure that you get the most out of their sports betting service.
Most TAB reviews will tend to ask the question ‘Is TAB secure?’ There’s plenty of good reason for this as there are sadly many online betting sites that operate without a license and give their customers very little in terms of customer protection.
Thankfully, this isn’t something that you need to worry about when you sign up with TAB. This is because the company’s gambling operations are subject to the South Australian Responsible Gambling Code of Practice.
Depending on which state you are resident in you’ll either enjoy a NSW wagering license, a Victorian wagering license, or an ACT wagering license. This means that it is legal to bet on sports at TAB, and it should guarantee that you receive a safe and fair betting service.
Is TAB secure in regards to how it handles your sensitive personal information? In the help centre, TAB state that they provide the highest level of encryption on all transactions between your computer and their system. This should ensure that all deposits and personal data stays in safe hands.
If you are concerned about your sports betting spiralling out of control, it’s worth noting that TAB provide you with some helpful responsible gambling tools. These allow you to set your own deposit limits, or even request a period of self-exclusion so that you can put a stop to any problem gambling issues.
TAB are a decent Australian bookmaker, and it’s easy to see why many people use their betting service. Their odds are competitive, they have lots of quality promotions, and even their mobile betting apps are user-friendly. If you’re still wondering is TAB secure, then their licensing should resolve any concerns.
However, there are a few things that TAB could work on. While the lack of welcome bonus might not be too troublesome, we would have liked to have seen more in the way of alternative payment methods – particularly in regards to making withdrawals.
But on the whole, it’s clear that TAB offers a safe, legal and fun way to bet on sports. So be sure to sign up and see what TAB is all about. If you’d like to compare the Tab offer with its competitors, then we advise that you explore our SportsBet and PointsBet review pages.
