Bonus Offers

Sometimes when you sign up to a New Zealand betting site, they might unveil some kind of welcome bonus when your account has been registered. Sadly it looks like the TAB ratings for welcome bonuses might suffer a little as they didn’t have any sign up offer available when we created our account.

However, it’s not all bad at TAB New Zealand as we found that they had some interesting sports betting promotions available in the Punter’s Lounge area of their website. You won’t need any TAB bonus codes to get these deals.

In particular it’s the Bonus Back deal that could be responsible for there being a good amount of positive TAB reviews on the internet. This is available for all of the TAB New Zealand customers and it promises to give you a certain amount of insurance on selected racing and sports events each week.

At the time of writing our TAB reviews, you could get money back if your chosen runner finished second, third or fourth in racing events like the New Zealand Cup and Show Week, Addington Greyhounds, Addington Harness, Riccarton Park Races, Alexandra Park Harness, Cambridge Greyhounds, Sandown Races and much more.

Usability, Look & Feel

If you’ve ever used a sports betting site before, then you shouldn’t have any kinds of problem in navigating around the TAB site. The brand put their racing bets and promotions at the front of their website, but you can easily navigate to other areas such as sports betting, in-play betting and the Punter’s Lounge through the header bar. This is also where you find your account details, betslip, results and betting balance.

By clicking on the sports page, you’ll get to see handy links for all of the main upcoming sporting events, along with a sidebar featuring a list of all of the sports. From here you can simply scroll down the available bets and then click on the odds to have them added to your betslip.

Everything on the TAB site is reasonably intuitively laid out with the footer bar containing helpful links for things like contact details, help centre, social media channels and responsible gambling tools.

We should also compliment TAB on the fact their site is quick to load, simple to navigate and all of the language used is easy to understand. A nice and easy-going sports betting site.

App/Mobile

The fact that TAB still operate physical betting shops might lead you to think that this is an old-fashioned bookmaker. However, you’d be wrong as TAB have kept up with all of the latest sports betting trends.

Nowhere is this more visible than when it comes to the TAB mobile betting service. This features great TAB betting apps that are available for iOS and Android devices.

By downloading a TAB app, you can gain access to all of the bookmaker’s sports and racing apps and place bets with a tap of your finger. Advanced features like cashing out are easy to carry out via the TAB app, and you should enjoy the convenience of browsing and betting on hundreds of sports markets from the comfort of your smartphone or tablet.

We should also commend TAB for creating a website that looks good and loads quickly on a mobile browser. So regardless of what kind of mobile device you own, you should be able to enjoy plenty of TAB betting opportunities while you are out and about.

Payments

So is TAB secure in terms of allowing you to make quick and easy deposits and withdrawals? We took a look at the bookmaker’s help centre and found that they only allow you to make deposits with a credit card, a debit card or by making a bill payment. You could also visit a TAB store to make a deposit.

For credit and debit card deposits, the funds should show up in your TAB account almost instantly. However, we should mention the fairly disappointing fact that TAB will charge a $2.15 fee for all credit and debit card deposits.

If you make a bill payment to fund your sports bets, then deposit timings vary according to the bank you use. For ANZ and ASB deposits, it could take anywhere between 30 mins and two hours, although for some other banks you might have to wait until the next business day for the funds to show up in your betting account.

When it comes to making withdrawals, you can visit a TAB store or withdraw your winnings from the bookmaker’s website. All online withdrawals will need to be of a minimum of $5.00 and the processing times can once again vary according to your choice of banking provider.

Customer Service

TAB New Zealand has put in place plenty of easy ways to get in touch with the brand’s customer service team. But is TAB reliable in terms of getting back to you and resolving your queries in a professional and efficient manner?

We found that TAB offered a quick and helpful service via their 0800 number customer support hotline. There was also a handy option for emailing the brand via their dedicated email support address.

Sadly there wasn’t any kind of live chat customer support at TAB. Plus the bookmaker’s limited customer service office hours could harm the TAB ratings a little. This is because you could only get in touch with the brand between 830am and 10pm each day apart from Saturdays when office hours were between 730am and 10pm, or Sunday and Monday when you could talk to someone between 830am and 8pm.

However many TAB reviews have noted that the bookmaker have an exhaustive FAQ section that can give you helpful information for anything from creating your account to increasing your daily deposit limits. So is TAB reliable for customer support? The simple answer would be yes.

License & Security

As TAB require you to give them sensitive personal information in order to create an account, it’s worth asking is TAB secure when it comes to your personal data? The main thing to realise is that TAB is actually classed as being New Zealand’s betting agency which means that it is subject to strict government regulations to keep your data safe.

By signing up to TAB, you’ll be able to enjoy betting at the only New Zealand bookmaker that can legally offer odds on sports and racing events. Obviously, you can still bet with an offshore bookmaker, but there’s something comforting about keeping your bets with TAB.

So is TAB secure when it comes to looking after your deposits? In the section below we’ll go over all of the payment methods available that should show that they all offer you safe ways to move your money around. Plus the brand give you helpful advice about avoiding phishing attempts and so on.

We also liked the fact that TAB have plenty of links to the Gambling Helpline and they also allow you to set your own deposit limits. All of which push up the TAB ratings for helping you enjoy sports betting in a controlled and responsible way.

Rewards & Loyalty Program

While TAB don’t have much in terms of standard welcome bonuses, their Punter’s Lounge is a great place to check if you are looking for some decent sports betting promotions. We’ve already touched on the bookmaker’s Bonus Back deals, but there’s plenty more here to enjoy.

TAB are well known for their racing promotions like the ones that give you four paying places for races like the NZ Cup And Show. Plus the bookmaker put on great deals for big events like the KPC Grand Final.

We recently saw a promotion that gave punters the chance to win $50,000 as well as a trip to Las Vegas at the KPC Grand Final. All you had to do was prove that you were the best punter at Addington and TAB would reward you in fine style.

Of course it’s not just about horse racing, as TAB serve up promotions for plenty more sports. If you’re a fan of NBA basketball, then you’ll appreciate the brand’s offer that allows you to place head-to-head bets of $20 or more, and TAB will give you a bonus bet equal to the value of the jersey number of the first player to score a basket in certain matches.

Plus there were more special offers for first touchdown scorer in NFL matches, and deals for bonus bets if you manage to predict the cricket players who score the most sixes in certain matches. All of which show that TAB is keen for you to get the most out of your sports bets.

Betting Markets

Everybody knows that TAB New Zealand is all about horse racing. But is TAB reliable for giving you lots of betting options for other popular New Zealand sports like rugby union and cricket?

We found that there were decent TAB ratings as a result of their comprehensive sports betting service that served up ample betting opportunities for sports like cricket, football, rugby league, rugby union and basketball. There were even some odds for less popular sports too.

Here’s a quick run-down of the sports on offer at TAB New Zealand; thoroughbred racing, harness racing, greyhound racing, American football, basketball, cricket, football, rugby league, rugby union, tennis, athletics, Australian rules football, baseball, basketball, bowls, boxing, cycling, darts, golf, hockey, ice hockey, ice skating, MMA, motor sport, netball, softball and even surfing.

This is an impressive list of sports covered, although it doesn’t include options like sailing or even politics or TV betting that you can find on some other sites. Thankfully, there’s a massive amount of betting markets available for each sporting clash, with the average NFL match enjoying around 125 distinct betting options.

Odds

So far we have spent much of this review asking is TAB secure? But once you’ve realised that this is an honest and secure bookmaker, you’ll need to work out whether TAB actually have any sports bets that are worth betting on.

In order to test this out, we decided to put TAB through a quick odds comparison test. This meant putting TAB’s odds for an England versus New Zealand Test match up against the odds offered by Betway.

If you wanted to back New Zealand to get a home win, then TAB were offering you odds of 2.38. This was actually much better than Betway’s odds of 2.25 and could give you greater profits.

But if you thought than England could get an away win, TAB’s odds of 2.29 were behind Betway’s odds of 2.37 for the same result. We should also mention the fact that Betway also gave you better odds for a draw with 4.75 beating odds of 4.00 from TAB.

Live Betting & Streaming

Like all decent bookmakers, TAB provide you with some live betting options that give you chance to bet on sporting events after the game or race has begun. At the time of writing our review, TAB only had live bets for 28 sporting events which is a smaller amount that you can enjoy elsewhere.

These in-play bets covered sports like basketball, football, tennis, cricket and snooker. While this is fewer sports than some other bookmakers, it’s worth noting the fact that TAB serve up an impressive amount of live betting markets for each sporting event.

For example, a Chinese CBA basketball match gave you chance to bet live on things like total number of points for each team and who would win each quarter of the game. TAB also allow you to cash-out your live bets early which is a great way to minimise any losses should your luck be running away from you.

Some sports like racing, basketball and tennis allowed you to watch a live stream of the action. But there was little in the way of statistics to help you understand the flow of the game. Despite this, it’s still a fair live betting service from New Zealand’s betting agency.

Limits

This is just one example, but it shows that TAB could sometimes give you some of the best odds. Just so you know, it looks like TAB will allow you to make winnings of anywhere up to $1,000,000 for all of their fixed odds betting options.

Product Conclusion

There is really not much to dislike about Tab’s sportsbook offering. Top quality betting markets, competitive odds and a clean looking site. Furthermore, the cap on daily winnings for fixed odds is very generous. All of this coupled with the fact that the site is trustworthy and reliable makes it an easy option for punters looking for a new bookmaker to wager their sports bet with.
