Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Mecole Hardman has praised teammate Patrick Mahomes’ work ethic during the preseason training. Hardman argued that the way Mahomes treated training reflected his quality, which earned him a Super Bowl ring and an MVP award.
Hardman said he was amazed by his teammate’s training intensity. He said Mahomes’ hunger to win was just as big as his desire to learn something new to boost his quality.
“I think he’s doing good – having a good camp,” Hardman said. “New pieces, getting to know the new pieces and everything. So, I think he’s doing good. His chops in camp looks good. The intensity is there. I think he practices how he plays.”
Hardman said Mahomed improved his game along the way, honing some areas that would be crucial for him in real matches. He added that the Texas-born player inspired the rest of the team to match his attitude to training.
“I think he takes practice seriously—get better every time you go out there. We take that and we learn from that and just try, you know, use that energy to make good practices offensively,” Hardman said.
Mahomes joined the Chiefs in 2017. He was drafted out of Texas Tech in the first round of the 2017 Draft. He became a full-time starter for the team at the beginning of the 2018-19 season, impressing fans with his 50 touchdown passes thatsame year. The feat earned him the NFL MVP and Offensive Player of the Year titles. Since then, he’s always made the Pro Bowl.
Hardman collected 59 receptions and 693 receiving yards last season, in addition to two touchdowns. The 24-year-old made the Pro Bowl in his first season in the NFL back in 2018. The Chiefs selected him with the 56th overall pick in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
