New York Giants Running back Saquon Barkley has said he is “ready to go crazy” in the upcoming NFL season.
Since 2018, the Giants have not managed to win more than six games per season. Due to that, Barkley promised he would change his team’s fate by playing as aggressively as possible.
“Last year was more like, ‘Dang, the game was taken away from me.’ I never had a season where I didn’t go and play football,” Barkley said while appearing on the 2nd Wind podcast.
“Now, it’s a kill mindset. Now it’s like, you know what? F—k everybody. I’m ready to go crazy.”
Barkley will have a huge workload this year if he is in good health. After a poor 2021 season, Barkley is set for a comeback as the Giants’ offense improved under coach Brian Daboll.
Daboll is expected to field Barkley as a running back, slot receiver, wide receiver, and motion receiver.
Barkley was selected with the second overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft. He tore his ACL in week 2 of the 2020 Season and has struggled since, making him a subject of criticism.
“Do I feel like I’m back? I feel like I’m better, to be completely honest,” Barkley said. “I’m older now, I’m 25. I’ve been through some stuff, ups and downs.
“Now I’m in a situation where, you know me, I always have the mindset of always being counted out. But now it’s actually here, it’s actually real. People are really counting me out. People are trying to write me off.”
He said he was determined to “shut everyone up”.
“I don’t really do it for the pleasure for others or making other people satisfied. I do it because I just want to be great,” he said.
“But now I have that extra motivation, the extra motivation to push me to go out there and kind of just be like, shut everyone up.”
Barkley andNew York will start their season in Nashville against the Tennessee Titans on September 11.
