With the 2022 NFL season nearing its kick-off on Thursday night, several players reportedly will not feature in Week 1 due to injuries.
Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur told reporters Wednesday that wide receiver Allen Lazard was injured after being “stepped on last week.” Therefore, Lazard will not play in the game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
Lazard was named starting wide receiver earlier, replacing Davante Adams, who joined the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason. With his absence potentially jeopardizing their passing game, the Packers will have to start with Romeo Doubs.
On the Minnesota Vikings’ side, defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard will, reportedly, likely be missing from the game due to a biceps injury. Additionally, the Vikings will also be without defensive tackle T.Y. McGill, who recently sustained an injury in his ankle.
Baltimore Ravens running back J.K Dobbins was limited from practice on Wednesday as he was still recovering after missing the entire previous season due to an issue in his knee. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said he would keep an open mind on Dobbins’ potential participation on Sunday.
New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson was initially given the green light to play in the opener despite sustaining a torn meniscus and a bone bruise in his knee during the preseason. Head coach Robert Saleh, however, later announced he would likely be sidelined until the fourth week. Joe Flacco has since been called into the starting lineup against the Ravens.
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup has been listed as a limited participant on the Cowboys’ first injury report. He entered the injured list two days after head coach Mike McCarthy announced that Gallup would not participate in practice and the team’s Week 1 game.
Tennessee Titans outside linebacker Harold Landry suffered a torn ACL during practice on Wednesday. He will not be fielded for the team’s season opener against the New York Giants.
