Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady has responded to comments made by former Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger regarding his team’s 20-18 Week 6 loss in Pittsburgh. He said defeats were not something he and the Bucs enjoy.
“I think any time you lose, it’s not very fun for any of us. We just have to go play better. That’s the reality to solving a lot of issues, to play better and to win,” said Brady, who threw 25 out of 40 pass attempts for 243 yards.
Roethlisberger was at Heinz Field when his former team hosted the losing Buccaneers. It was a much-needed win and a possible comeback sign for Pittsburgh, who broke a four-game losing streak with the victory. The Steelers’ previous win was in Week 1 over the Cincinnati Bengals at 23-20. Meanwhile, its most recent defeat was to the Buffalo Bills at 38-3.
Roethlisberger’s main takeaway from the Bucs’ defeat was that Brady did not enjoy the game. He argued that it was likely due to pressure and the hits the seven-time Super Bowl champion had to tank.
“It didn’t look like he wanted to be out there. Maybe it was the pressure, and he was getting hit and whatever was going on,” the former QB said in a recent episode of his Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger podcast.
“At one point, I looked down there and said, ‘There’s no way he’s enjoying this. No way.’ It just didn’t look fun for him. It just looked like a different Tom.”
Brady has enjoyed quite a number of victories throughout his 23-season career in the NFL. The 45-year-old helped his former team, the New England Patriots, win six Super Bowl rings before leading Tampa Bay to the same title in 2020.
Since their last Bowl win in 2021, the Bucs have been struggling to replicate their previous success. This season, the franchise kicked off with a rather concerning 3-3 record.
“And yeah, I’ve definitely been a part of seasons where we have not played as well as we’re capable, and I don’t think it’s as enjoyable for anyone,” Brady added.
