New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick has praised Rhamondre Stevenson, comparing him to two NFL legends — Tom Brady and Lawrence Taylor.
Tonny Dungy, Mike Trico and Jason Garett revealed how Belichick had raved about Stevenson during NBC’s broadcast of the Patriots’ matchup with the Minnesota Vikings.
“It was incredible. He went on and on and on,” Garrett said. “And Coach doesn’t speak a lot in those production meetings, but he probably talked about Rhamondre for 15 minutes, and he compared his growth and his development in a short period of time to both Tom Brady and to Lawrence Taylor.”
Belichick and Brady won six Super Bowls together. Belichick allegedly said that Stevenson’s development had been nothing short of elite. He praised Stevenson’s growth and expressed his appreciation for him after performing spectacularly in a win over the Detroit Lions earlier this season.
Belichick said Stevenson had done a great job, dubbing him one of New England’s “most dependable players.” “He is a good all-around back. Love him. Love him,” Belichick said.
Stevenson made impressive progress with the team and in many areas. He has been one of the Patriots’ most valuable players on the offensive line.
Throughout his first one-and-a-half NFL seasons, Stevenson has earned every bit of praise. The 2021 fourth-round pick has developed into one of the league’s top dual-threat running backs.
Stevenson has 144 carries for 644 yards and four touchdowns through 10 games this season, as well as 41 catches for 283 yards and one touchdown. His 41 receptions are second only to wide receiver Jakobi Meyers at the Patriots.
The 24-year-old running back carried seven times for 36 yards and caught nine of ten receptions for 76 yards in the Patriots’ 33-26 loss to the Vikings on Thursday night. Stevenson and the Pats will face the Buffalo Bills next Thursday in Week 13.
