Live Fast Motorsports (LFM) co-owners BJ McLeod and Matt Tifft have recently announced they are switching to Chevrolet. The team will field Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series.
“Our team is excited to make this transition to Chevrolet,” McLeod said in a statement. “Chevrolet Camaros have proven great success on the track and Live Fast Motorsports is looking forward to becoming a part of this advance.”
The team joins Chevrolet with the support from ECR Engines, which will provide engine rebuild services for Live Fast Motorsports for the 2023 season. It will be the team’s third season after being formed in late 2020.
“We’re looking forward to racing for Chevrolet, the winningest manufacturer in NASCAR,” Tifft said. “We’ll also be getting engine support from ECR engines, and we know our program will benefit from their technologies and power under the hood.”
Live Fast’s switch to Chevrolet allows the organization to align better with its sister team, B.J. McLeod Motorsports (BJMM). This team fields multiple cars in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, including Chevrolets in most of their races in 2022. It has also raced with Ford and Toyota in the past.
Throughout the 2022 season, McLeod has contributed to Live Fast’s development by driving in 29 out of 36 races and finishing seventh at Daytona in August.
For two seasons in the NASCAR Cup Series, the team has recorded two top 10 results in the Summer event at Daytona International Speedway and four top 20 finishes.
Meanwhile, Chevrolet has won the Cup manufacturer’s championship 42 times, with the second being Ford. Nine drivers and four teams have contributed 20 victories this season.
Alex Bowman, William Byron and Austin Dillon are some of those drivers, and the four teams consist of Hendrick Motorsports, Richard Childress Racing, Petty GMS Motorsports and Trackhouse Racing Team.
