Tennessee Volunteers OL Jerome Carvin has announced his decision to leave college football and enter the 2023 NFL Draft. The news was announced Monday on his social media account.
“As I reflect back on my five years as a Volunteer, it’s been an incredible ride with memories that will last a lifetime. I thank God for the opportunity to play this game and guide me,” Carvin said in a Twitter post.
Carvin said he was excited about his future in the NFL. Describing the Volunteers as “home sweet home,” he explained that he was grateful for his time in Tennessee, both for his teammate and fans.
“I now begin the next chapter of my life preparing for the 2023 NFL Draft and can’t wait for the future. I am proud to be a VFL and Rocky Top will always be “home sweet home.”

“To Vol Nation, you were always there for me and our team. Celebrating with you on the field after the Alabama game is something I will remember for the rest of my life. From Vol Walk to Running Through the T, gamedays in Neyland are unmatched,” Carvin said.
Carvin also thanked Volunteers coaches Josh Heupel and Jeremy Pruitt for giving him the opportunity to be part of the team.
“To my teammates, we are brothers for life. We have been through so much,” Carvin continued.
With the Vols, Carvin made two bowl appearances. In 2021, the Volunteers suffered a 45-48 overtime loss in the Music City Bowl against the Purdue Boilermakers. This season, Carvin led the Volunteers’ offensive line to beat Clemson Tiger Football 31-14 in the Orange Bowl.
“This season has been so much fun and to see our hard work pay off and celebrate an 11-win season with an Orange Bowl win is rewarding,” Carvin said.
In total, Carvin spent five years with the Volunteers. He notched his top performance in 2021, recording no sacks allowed from 42 starts for 59 appearances for Tennessee. The reigning champion Tennessee recorded an 11-2 win-loss this season.
Besides Carvin, Tennessee had earlier lost several players of the 2023 Signing Class, including QB Nico Iamaleava, RB Khalifa Keith, WR Nathan Leacock and TE Ethan Davis.
