Eagles’ Jalen Hurts discusses possible comeback in game vs. Giants

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts shared his thoughts on the possibility of playing against the New York Giants in the divisional round game. Hurts earlier suffered a shoulder injury and missed two regular season games.

Hurts injured his right shoulder when the Eagles played against the Chicago Bears in Week 15. When asked about his condition, the 24-year-old told reporters he would try his best.

“I’ve got a bounty on me every week,” Hurts said. “So, I’m going to go out there and just play my game, and whatever happens, happens.”

Besides Hurts, LT Jordan Mailata said he had prepared for their first playoff game against the Giants. He said he had a “bounty,” just like Hurts.

“If he’s got a bounty, I’ve got a bounty,” Mailata said. “It’s my job to make sure that bounty isn’t claimed and do everything I can to execute the right technique and the right plays and make sure he stays clean and I stay dirty.”

Last week, Hurts participated in the regular season’s finale against the Giants in Week 18. Despite playing with an injured shoulder, he led the Eagles to a 22-16 victory and clinched the NFC’s No.1 playoff spot, completing 20 out of 35 passes for 229 yards. He also rushed nine times for 13 yards and was intercepted once.

Sirianni to include Hurts

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni discussed plans to let Hurts start against the Giants. Sirianni explained that the one-time Pro Bowler had gotten better.

“He’s better today than he was two weeks ago,” Sirianni said. “He’s continuing to get better, and he feels good.”

The Eagles are on nine winning streak at home against the Giants. Sources reported that Hurts might start alongside wide receivers A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith and RB Miles Sanders.

Two players who missed the Eagles’ last two games — CB Avonte Maddox and RT Lane Johnson — are listed as questionable on the team’s injury list.

A win against New York will have Philadelphia facing either the San Fransisco 49ers or the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC Championship game in the next playoff round.
