The Edmonton Oilers secured a 3-1 victory against the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night, with Leon Draisaitl contributing one goal and two assists to the team’s success.
Edmonton has a record of 46 wins, 23 losses and nine ties, accumulating 101 points. With this victory, the Oilers climbed to the second position in the Pacific Division, overtaking the Kings. They are now just three points behind the first-place Vegas Golden Knights. Both teams have four games left in the season.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins contributed a goal and an assist, and Stuart Skinner made 20 saves. With an assist on Draisaitl’s goal, Edmonton star player and captain Connor McDavid has now recorded points in 12 consecutive games, tallying eight goals and 15 assists.
McDavid said the regular season is mainly about securing a spot in the playoffs, which they did on Saturday.
Troy Terry, the Ducks’ second top scorer with 21 goals and 56 points, will return to the lineup Wednesday versus Edmonton. Terry is expected to resume his position on the top line and the first power-play unit against the Oilers.
Terry previously decided not to join the team on their weekend trip to face the Seattle Kraken, Oilers and Calgary Flames. The move was made to ensure that he and his wife Dani could stay within the country since they were expecting their first child.
Although he will play against the Oilers at home on Wednesday, Terry will not join the team in Arizona for the game against the Coyotes on Saturday. He said it felt strange to watch the games from a distance.
“I’m seeing the group chat of where they’re going and what’s going on. It’s just weird not being on the road and watching them go on the ice,” Terry said.
