The Anaheim Ducks have signed Lukas Dostal to a two-year contract extension. The goaltender’s new deal is two-way in 2023-24 and one-way in 2024-25.

The Ducks didn’t reveal exact contract detail. However, according to The Athletic, Dostal’s salary will start at $775,000 in the first year and then increase to $850,000 in the second year.

Dostal was drafted in the third round of the 2018 draft by the Ducks, after which he joined the Ilves Tampere in Finland, where he played for three seasons until 2021.

In 64 appearances for Ilves, he recorded 41 wins, 13 losses and eight ties, in which he produced five shutouts, a 1.76 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage.

In the 2019-20 season, Dostal was recognized as the Finnish SM-Liiga Best Goaltender, posting a 27-8-6 record in 43 games.

In the 2021-22 season, Dostal played for the Ducks’ AHL affiliate, the San Diego Gulls. The Czech international then split his time during the 2022-23 season between the Ducks and the Gulls. In the season, his performance included a 4-10-3 record in 19 games, 17 of which he started, with a .901 save percentage and a 3.78 goals-against average.

During his 34 appearances with the Gulls, the 23-year-old recorded a .912 save percentage, a 2.97 goals-against average and a pro career-best three shutouts. Dostal was also named co-Most Valuable Player at the AHL All-Star Challenge in Laval, Quebec.

Over the past two seasons, Dostal started 20 out of 23 games, recording a 3.65 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage.

Dostal has represented Czechia in various international tournaments. He participated in the 2022 World Championship, winning his only game. He competed in two World Junior Championships in 2019 and 2020 after playing in the 2018 U-18 World Championship. Dostal had also claimed a silver medal at the 2017 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament.
