Francis Ngannou Talks Tyson Fury, Dana White, Jon Jones, and More | The MMA Hour

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou has confirmed that there is a rematch clause in his contract for the upcoming boxing bout against current World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

“Yeah, there’s a potential rematch clause,” Ngannou said. “I don’t know exactly how to explain that language, but yes, there is a rematch inside it.”

Ngannou clarified that if he wins, a rematch is definite. However, if he loses, it is uncertain whether there will be a rematch. Therefore, The Predator is determined to win the fight and do whatever it takes to secure a rematch with the Gypsy King.

“That’s why I have to win this fight. I have to put everything to get that rematch,” he said.

A significant match for Ngannou’s career

Ngannou’s 10-round clash with Fury in Saudi Arabia will be an official contest that impacts the professional records of both fighters. Although there won’t be a title at stake, Ngannou confirmed on MMA journalist Ariel Helwani’s YouTube channel that it would be a genuine fight.

The magnitude of this opportunity cannot be overstated for Ngannou, as he anticipates a payday surpassing his cumulative earnings from UFC fights. Moreover, if he manages to pull off a remarkable upset, an even larger payday potentially awaits him.

Regardless of the outcome of the fight, Ngannou confirmed that he would return to MMA after the bout. Due to unsuccessful contract negotiations, Ngannou had previously ended his association with the UFC. Following his departure from the promotion, Ngannou signed a multi-fight deal with the rivaling Professional Fighters League (PFL), which has allowed him to explore boxing.

Ngannou explained that his maiden MMA fight under the PFL is scheduled for the beginning of next year, and based on discussions with PFL CEO Pete Murray, his debut will likely be held in February or March.
