The Miami Dolphins won their Week 6 game against the Carolina Panthers, with QB Tua Tagovailoa passing three touchdowns in the first half. He tallied these TD passes to three different players—a three-yard pass to RB Raheem Mostert, a four-yard pass to WR Jaylen Waddle and a long throw to WR Tyreek Hill for 41 yards.
The 25-year-old finished the game 21 of 31 for 262 yards and currently leads the NFL with 1,876 passing yards this season.
Despite the victory, the Dolphins initially struggled, going three-and-out twice and falling behind 14-0 in the first quarter. However, in the second quarter, they made a comeback, gaining 177 yards and scoring 21 consecutive points.
Hill secured his sixth touchdown of the season to give the Dolphins a 21-14 lead in the first half. However, he was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct for performing a backflip with a fan’s phone near the end zone.
“Being able to create memories that I can look back on when I’m done playing is always something I think of each and every time I play this game,” Hill said regarding his violation.
Hill concluded the game by gaining 79 yards on three catches in the first half and scoring his 30th career touchdown of over 40 yards. This is twice as many as the next-closest players, Derrick Henry of the Tennessee Titans and Tyler Lockett of the Seattle Seahawks, each of whom has 14.
The loss against the Dolphins extended the Panthers’ losing streak to six games.
At first, Frank Reich’s team led 14-0, but they gave up 35 unanswered points, with the Dolphins taking a 35-14 lead in the third quarter.
RB Chuba Hubbard ran for a six-yard touchdown in the first quarter, and rookie QB Bryce Young threw an eight-yard touchdown pass to WR Adam Thielen to give the Panthers the 14-0 first-half lead.
Young went 23 for 38 with 217 passing yards and faced four sacks. Despite the loss, he achieved a personal best QB rating of 85.1. Thielen finished with 115 yards from 11 catches, while Hubbard ran the ball 19 times for 88 yards.
Reich gave his opinion about the Dolphins’ winning performance, saying, “When they get hot, they’re tough to stop.”
