The Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks concluded the American League and National League Championship Series on Monday night with victories.
The Rangers and Houston Astros had an all-out match in an all-Texas ALCS Game 7, ending with the Rangers snatching the victory. Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks and Philadelphia Phillies pushed for an NLCS Game 7 after Arizona came out as the victor for Game 6.
Once Game 7 for the Diamondbacks and Phillies is over, the winner will face the Rangers in the 2023 World Series on October 27 in Globe Life Field, Texas.
The Rangers have now advanced to the World Series. Despite the Astros’ best efforts to secure Game 7, the Rangers came home with an 11-4 victory.
Corey Seager gave an early lead for the Rangers with a solo home run hit from Cristian Javier’s fastball. Landing over 440 feet beyond the fence in the right field, the hit set the tone of the game.
Evan Carter soon followed with the second score on Adolis García’s line drive, launching the hit beyond the tall wall in the left field. García sustained his streak by scoring a solo home run that ensured the Rangers continued leading.
“It’s not easy to accept or say, but we got beat,” Astros manager Dusty Baker said.
“We have nothing to be ashamed of or nothing to hold our head down about. We’re down, but we’re not out.”
Arizona defeated Philadelphia with a score of 5-1. Tommy Pham and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. gave the Diamondbacks an early 3-0 lead with back-to-back home runs. Alek Thomas, Evan Longoria, Ketel Marte and other players contributed additional runs with walks, doubles and RBI singles and triples.
Game 7 will take place on Tuesday night. RHP Brandon Pfaadt will start for the Diamondbacks, while LHP Ranger Suárez will start for the Phillies.
