Professional boxer and Youtuber Jake Paul has partnered with USA Boxing to promote amateur boxing and support future champions in preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
As part of this partnership, Paul — known for his impact on boxing and youth engagement — will provide mentorship to promising amateur boxers. He will accompany Team USA during training in Colorado Springs and the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, per the news release.
This initiative marks Team USA’s first collaboration with a professional athlete and influencer. It seeks to bring excitement to boxing at the Olympics and educate amateur boxers on building their skills inside and outside the ring.
The 26-year-old boxer revealed on his X account Tuesday his plans to train with Team USA Olympians starting this winter and accompany them to France in July 2024.
Paul, along with famed coach Billy Walsh, will train with Team USA at the Olympic Training facility in Colorado Springs in early 2024. He will mentor U.S. athletes Joshua Edwards and Morelle McCane for the Olympics.
“The Olympics are the greatest stage in the world,” said Paul. “I’m honored to help bring awareness to USA Boxing and mentor these young, inspiring athletes as they fight for gold.”
USA Boxing Executive Director Mike McAtee expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership. He said that Paul’s influential figure and mentorship will be a vital resource to bring awareness to the team and boxing as a sport.
Paul became popular on the American video-sharing platforms Vine and YouTube in 2013. He was also a famous Disney star in 2017. He began his boxing career in 2018, holding an MMA record of 8-1 over Tyron Woodly, Nate Diaz and Anderson Silva.
After becoming a professional boxer, Paul has collected many achievements in boxing. In 2021, Paul earned the title of Knockout of the Year and Breakout Boxer of the Year. He also claimed the 2022 Viral Moment of the Year. He covers Sports Illustrated’s The 50 Most Influential Figures in Sports issue in 2023.
