Jordan Love: ‘It’s a win & advance mentality’

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love earned his first NFC Offensive Player of the Week award after scoring four touchdowns in a 33-10 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Monday.

In his first season as the Packers’ starting QB, Love dominated Brian Flores’s defense at U.S. Bank Stadium. During the game, Love completed 24 out of 33 passes for 256 yards, three passing TDs, a rushing TD and no interceptions.

Love completed passes to eight different players in the game. Wide receivers Bo Melton, Jayden Reed and tight end Tucker Kraft each caught six receptions. Reed caught two of the touchdowns, while Melton caught one, marking his first in the NFL.

Love’s eight games this season with multiple touchdowns and no interceptions tie him for the league lead with the San Francisco 49ers’ Brock Purdy. Love also holds the second spot for achieving eight such games in his first 17 NFL starts, following former Miami Dolphins QB Dan Marino and trailing Purdy, who had nine to start a career.

In 16 games, Love completed 63.1 percent of his passes for 3,843 yards with 30 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, resulting in a 93.8 passer rating. These numbers make him the second QB in franchise history to achieve this in a single season.

Packers’ former QB Aaron Rodgers accomplished this feat twice, in 2009 with 30 TDs and five INTs and in 2016 with 40 TDs and four INTs.

Packers’ offense dominates

The Packers’ offense outperformed the Vikings’ defense, gaining 177 rushing yards and 470 total yards. They converted nine out of 14 third-down attempts and held the ball for over 37 minutes. Meanwhile, the Vikings’ defense did not manage to get any sacks.

On the other side, the Vikings secured 211 total yards, including 144 passing yards and 67 rushing yards. Their main signal-caller, Nick Mullens, threw a touchdown from 113 passing yards without any interceptions.

This recent win has positioned Green Bay with an 8-8 record. If they win in Week 18 against the Chicago Bears, they will secure their spot in the postseason. The Bears hold a strong 4-1 record leading up to the game.
