Following UFC Fight Night 238, several fighters witnessed notable advancements in UFC rankings. Among the prominent winners were Muhammad Mokaev, Steve Erceg, Tatsuro Taira, Umar Nurmagomedov, and Vitor Petrino, all of whom experienced significant improvements in their standings.
Mokaev, with a decision win over Alex Perez, climbed one spot to #7, while Erceg soared to #10 following his viral knockout victory against Matt Schnell.
Despite their absence from the recent UFC Apex event, Tim Elliot and Tatsuro Taira experienced upward rankings, with Elliot moving up one spot to #9 and Taira advancing two places to #13. And, besides an early setback in the first round, Umar Nurmagomedov secured a spot in the UFC bantamweight Top 10 following his resilient decision victory.
Additionally, Vitor Petrino debuted in the rankings as the #15 top light heavyweight, while Jairzinho Rozenstruik saw a modest climb of one place in the heavyweight rankings to #12.
Several fighters’ UFC rankings changed after their performances at the recent event. Alex Perez slipped one spot to #8 after his recent about, while Matt Schnell experienced the most notable decline, dropping two places to #11 due to his knockout defeat.
Similarly, Tagir Ulanbekov and Sumudaerji also saw their rankings decrease, with Ulanbekov falling one place to #12 and Sumudaerji dropping two to #15.
As Nurmagomedov made a significant leap, climbing three places in the bantamweight division, Jonathan Martinez, Dominick Cruz, and Pedro Munhoz each slipped down one spot to #11, #12, and #13, respectively. Meanwhile, Derrick Lewis also dropped to #11 in the heavyweight rankings.
In a separate development, Khabib Nurmagomedov announced his retirement from fighting in 2020 following a perfect record of 29 wins and 0 losses.
Following his father’s death, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, in the same year, Khabib decided to retire and focus on spending time with his loved ones.
