Twitter sports betting personality “The PropFather” put together a parlay bet that delivered a massive win on Tuesday night. The 3-way home run parlay featured +10297 odds, and his bet was tailed by many followers who enjoyed a big night thanks to The PropFather sharing his call.

Parlay bets have increased in popularity with the rise of legal sports betting in the USA, and in general they are a boon for the books, as the hold on parlay bets can be as much as four times as large as the industry-wide average hold on straight wagers. Put Tuesday in the parlay loss column for the books however, as a sports bettor known as The PropFather not only assembled a winning parlay bet, but shared it on his Twitter and Discord channels allowing his many followers to tail his wager and cash in big wins of their own. The PropFather placed his $100 wager with FanDuel, cashing in for $10,397 on the bet. Many of the tailing wagers were made with top online sportsbook, FanDuel, as well.
The parlay ticket featured three home run prop bets, on Starling Marte of the Mets, Byron Buxton of the Twins, and Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh. Raleigh plays on the west coast and didn’t hit his home run until the eighth inning, so bettors had a long wait hoping Raleigh would come through. The PropFather was clearly feeling the sweat as he even Tweeted “I’ll name my first son Cal” as Raleigh came to the plate for his bet-winning at bat.
Earning more than $10,000 on a $100 bet is certainly impressive, but while The PropFather was the mastermind behind the parlay ticket, he did not generate the most profit from his research. A deep-pocketed bettor, “JD” on Twitter, tailed the bet with a $450 wager of his own, cashing in for a whopping $50,956.20. Raleigh’s bet-cashing home run set off a celebration in the GoldBoys Discord channel, as JD, The PropFather, and many other bettors who placed smaller wagers shared in the victory.
Raleigh does have 14 home runs already this season, but the bet was still a risky one. Opposing starting pitcher Dane Dunning is not known as an ace, but he does sport the 11th-best ground ball rate among all MLB starting pitchers, with his 52.8% rate making it tough to get the ball in the air against him. True to form it was not Dunning who allowed the crucial home run to Raleigh, rather relief pitcher Matt Moore. Moore has resurrected a waning career this season, pitching extremely effectively out of the Rangers’ bullpen after being a traditional starting pitcher for much of his career. The home run was the first one Moore has allowed in 46.2 innings of work in 2022.
Even though parlay betting can result in huge paydays like this one, the books will always be a winner on parlay bets. The odds given are much farther away from the real-life odds of the parlay hitting than any odds offered on a straight wager. Top sportsbooks often use payouts like these as advertising, showing that bettors can and do win huge amounts, but in the meantime most sportsbooks pocket more than 20% of the total money wagered on parlays. With their impressive hold, books are glad to pay out the occasional big amount on nights like this. For sports bettors however, the betting format gives them the chance to generate a substantial amount of profit with minimal risk by using their wits to accurately predict outcomes at US sports betting sites.
